Elizabeth Szabo Leibowitz

Ex-Farrell woman owned jewelry boutique in Virginia

FAIRFAX, Va. _ Graveside funeral service will be today for Elizabeth Szabo Leibowitz, 11821 Lee Highway, Fairfax, Va., formerly of Farrell. She died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday (8-5-97) in Fair Oak Hospital. She was 87.

Mrs. Leibowitz was born Nov. 26, 1909, in Hungary to Charles J. and Rose Katz Szabo.

She graduated from Farrell High School.

Mrs. Leibowitz was owner of The Culpepper Shop, specializing in fine jewelry and antiques, in Fairfax.

Surviving are: her husband, Syd Leibowitz, whom she married in 1964; a brother, Frank J. Szabo, Sharon; and two sisters, Helen Greenberger, Hollywood, Fla.; and Minnie Gelfand, New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Schnur and Mae Bostocky.

Mrs. Syd (Elizabeth Szabo), 87, of 11821 Lee Highway, Fairfax, Va., formerly of Farrell.

Service: Graveside funeral service at 4 p.m. today (8-8-97) in Temple Beth Israel Cemetery, Hermitage, with the Rabbi Jacques Cukierkorn, rabbi of Temple Beth Israel, Sharon, officiating.

Nellie E. Wolf McKee

Was a member of former school board, church deacon

Nellie E. Wolf McKee, Grove City, formerly of Volant RD 2, Springfield Township, died at 10:18 p.m. Thursday (8-7-97) in Grove Manor, after an extended illness. She was 94.

Mrs. McKee was born Oct. 1, 1902, in New Kensington, Pa., to Harry and Mary Davies Wolf.

She graduated from New Kensington High School and Slippery Rock University.

She belonged to Leesburg Presbyterian Church, where she was a deacon.

Mrs. McKee was a member and secretary of the former Springfield Township School Board.

Her husband, Curtis L. McKee, whom she married Aug. 25, 1928, died June 1979.

Yolanda Rotunno Rocco

Hermitage woman was born in Italy

Yolanda Rotunno Rocco, John XXIII Home, Hermitage, formerly of Sharon, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday (8-7-97) at the home of natural causes after an extended illness. She was 93.

Mrs. Rocco was born Oct. 22, 1903, in Naples, Italy, to Luigi and Maria Conti Rotunno.

She was a Catholic.

Her husband, Antonio F. Rocco, whom she married Feb. 8, 1923, died Oct. 4, 1981.

Surviving are: two daughters, Theresa Rocco, Hermitage; and Mary Rocco, Pittsburgh; and two brothers, Peter J. Rotunno, Grants Pass, Ore.; and Michael Rotunno, Masury.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Archie, Harry, Samuel, Albert and Frank; and a sister, Mary Ricciardi.

Mrs. Antonio F. (Yolanda Rotunno), 93, Hermitage, formerly of Sharon.

Harvey Curtis Satterwhite

FHS graduate was Master Mason, played in Army Band

YOUNGSTOWN _ Harvey Curtis Satterwhite, 175 W. Evergreen Ave., Youngstown, died unexpectedly at 1:59 p.m. July 27, 1997, in St. Elizabeth Health Center of a heart attack. He was 75.

Mr. Satterwhite was born May 30, 1922, in Richmond, Va., to Harvey C. and Lucille Satterwhite Sr.

A 1940 graduate of Farrell High School, he attended Youngstown State University, majoring in music.

An Army veteran, he served during World War II and played saxophone in the Army Band.

Mr. Satterwhite retired in 1987 after 14 years as a spot welder from General Motors Corp.'s Lordstown (Ohio) car assembly plant. He was a truck driver for United Construction, Youngstown, where he was Teamster shop steward.

He was a member of Third Baptist Church, Youngstown, and its Metoka Sunday school class, Men's Unit, and Inspirational Chorus. He was former president and vice president of its usher board.

Mr. Satterwhite belonged to the Organization of Protestant Men, Youngstown.

A member of the Trojan Band, Youngstown, he was vice president of Musicians Local 242; and was director of Gospel Sounds Band for more than 10 years.

He was a Master Mason of Free and Accepted Masons Rising Sun Lodge 90, Youngstown.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Velma C. Lipford, whom he married Oct. 19, 1942; a son, Harvey C. III, Youngstown; three daughters, Kathy L. Satterwhite, Youngstown; and Doris J. Satterwhite and Vicky L. King, both Columbus; a brother, Donald, Akron; three sisters, Reba Wakefield, Pittsburgh; Lucille Ratliff, Los Angeles; and Thaysta Satterwhite, Girard, Ohio; 0 and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Randall C.; two brothers, Samuel and William; and a sister, Ruth Satterwhite Lee.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Aug. 1, 1997, in Third Baptist Church, Youngstown, with the Rev. Morris W. Lee, pastor, officiating.

Burial was at Tod Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown.


Violet R. Stuard

Packard retiree of Burghill was mother of Ohio judge

Funeral will be Saturday for Violet R. Stuard, 7351 State Route 609, Burghill. She died at 12:40 p.m Wednesday (8-6-97) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.

Mrs. Stuard was born Sept. 20 in Sharon to Brindley J. and Mary Ann Evans Richards.

She retired after 28 years as an inspector in the quality control department of Delphi Packard Electric Systems, Warren.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 518, Hartford.

Mrs. Stuard belonged to Burghill Baptist Church.

Her husband, Carl M. Stuard, died Jan. 4, 1980.

Surviving are: a daughter, Linda L. Hodgson, Burghill; two sons, Charles E., Vienna; and Judge John M., Burghill; three brothers, Robert Richards and Walter J. Bombeck, both Brookfield; amd Dale Richards, Pittsburgh; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hardman.

Esther M. Parker Waddell

Mercer woman was active in local service organizations

Esther M. Parker Waddell, 224 S. Otter St., Mercer, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon (8-7-97) in her son's home in Butler. She was 71.

Mrs. Waddell was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Mercer to Thomas and Anna Fidley Parker.

She retired as a clerical associate from the Butler Veterans Administration Medical Center. She was a clerk at Adessa, formerly Interstate Auto Auction, Coolspring Township. Previously, Mrs. Waddell worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Mercer.

She was a member of the East End Auxiliary; and the Telephone Association, both Mercer; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6345, Mercer, where she was past president; and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1637, Mercer, where she was past senior regent.

Mrs. Waddell belonged to Mercer United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: her husband, Marvin L. Waddell, whom she married Oct. 23, 1945; two daughters, Betty Jean Frey, Mercer; and Mrs. Eric (Marsha) Kennedy, Greenville; two sons, Thomas, Mercer; and John, Butler; a sister, Mrs. Everett (Eunice) Brandon, Grove City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Parker.

Mrs. Marvin L. (Esther M.), 71, of 224 S. Otter St., Mercer.
