Neal P. `Inch' Chakan

Construction worker was active in hockey, hunting

Neal P. ``Inch'' Chakan, 42 N. Mitchell Road, Shenango Township, was pronounced dead on arrival at 9:45 a.m. Saturday (8-9-97) at Horizon Hospital System, Shenango Valley, Farrell. He was 24.

Mr. Chakan was born March 23, 1973, in Sharon to Neal L. and Janice Multari Chakan.

A graduate of Farrell High School, he was a starter on the basketball team.

Mr. Chakan was a laborer at Curic Construction, West Middlesex. He previously worked for Gibson Construction, Sharon.

He was a member of New Deal Club; First Italian Social Club; and Croation American Civic Club, all of Farrell.

Mr. Chakan belonged to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

Active in ice hockey and in-line skating, he was a member of teams sponsored by Goldstein's, Quaker Steak and Lube, L&M Tire and Goldmind.

He was an avid hunter.

Surviving are: his parents, West Middlesex; his grandparents, Helen Multari and Carl Chakan, both West Middlesex; and a sister, Tracy Lynn, West Middlesex.

He was preceded in death by twograndparents, Gloria Chakan and Anthony Multari.

Yetta H. Frank

Operating room nurse served in Army during WWII

PITTSBURGH _ Yetta H. Frank, Fox Chapel, Pittsburgh, died Saturday evening (8-9-97) in Villa DeMarillac Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was 74.

Mrs. Frank was born March 31, 1923, in Uniontown, Pa., to George and Lena Miller Haught.

An Army veteran, she was a second lieutenant in the Nursing Corps during World War II.

She was a former operating room nurse at Montefiore University Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Frank was past president of the Montefiore Nurses Association.

Surviving are: her husband, Bernard Frank, at home; two sons, Mark S., Pittsburgh; Allan J., Sharon; a daughter, Mrs. Steven (Carol L.) Lynch, Pontiac, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Eleanor) Dolan, Boynton Beach, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Frank Family Foundation, c/o the Pittsburgh Foundation.

Mrs. Bernard H. (Yetta H.), 74, Fox Chapel, Pittsburgh.

Calling hours: 11:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday (8-12-97) in BURTON L. HIRSCH CHAPEL, 2704 Murray Ave., Squirrel Hill.

Service: Funeral at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with the Rabbi James Gibson, rabbi of Temple Sinai, Pittsburgh, officiating.

Burial: West View Cemetery of Rodef Shalom Congregation, Pittsburgh.


Margaret C. `Margie' Isacco

Forestville church worker retired as SRU housekeeper

FORESTVILLE _ Margaret C. ``Margie'' Isacco died at 9:10 p.m. Sunday (8-10-97) at home after an extended illness. She was 77.

Ms. Isacco was born June 19, 1920, in Forestville to Domenico and Maria Isaac Isacco.

She retired in 1982 with 25 years of service in Slippery Rock University's housekeeping department.

A member of St. Anthony's Church, Forestville, she served 35 years as a sacristan.

Surviving are: four sisters, Jennie E. and Rachel S. Isacco, both Forestville; Ruth F. Candee, Sunnyvale, Calif.; and Mary L. Cicero, Campbell, Calif.

Three sisters, Angeline A. Carozza, Anna A. Isaaco and Sister Mary Dominic (Lucy); and two brothers, Antonio C. and Michael J., preceded her in death.

Margaret C. ``Margie,'' 77, Forestville.

Michael Kikela

Michael Kikela, 1305 Heinz Ave., Sharon, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday (8-10-97) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after accidentally falling from a tree he was trimming on Highland Avenue, according to Mercer County Coroner J. Bradley McGonigle III. He was 54. Obituary information was incomplete.

Mary M. Miklo Laslow

Sharon native had sister, brothers living in county

WARREN, Ohio _ Mary M. Miklo Laslow, 9680 Cain Drive NE, died at 9:50 p.m. Sunday (8-10-97) in Trumbull Memorial Hospital of natural causes. She was 77.

Mrs. Laslow was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Sharon to Paul and Theresa Jacobson Miklo.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are: her husband, Paul Laslow, whom she married Dec. 16, 1939; a daughter, Maxine L., Warren; a sister, Mrs. Michael (Theresa) Padenich, Hermitage; and two brothers, John Miklo, Farrell; and Paul Miklo, Greenville.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Miklo; and a brother, Joseph Miklo.


LASLOW

Mary M. Miklo, 77, of 9680 Cain Drive NE, Warren, Ohio.

Georgia Mae Rice Palmer

Bethany Presbyterian deacon was renowned organist

Georgia Mae Rice Palmer, South Shenango Street, Mercer, died unexpectedly at 12:06 a.m. today (8-11-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Greenville. She was 77.

Mrs. Palmer was born Aug. 6, 1920, in Franklin to Burris Washington and Mary Ellen Blair Rice.

She retired from Mercer County Living Center, Coolspring Township; and the State Regional Correction Facility at Mercer.

She was a member and deacon of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer, and belonged to its Day Timers organization.

Mrs. Palmer was a member of Brandy Springers, Mercer; and the Organ Club, a music club of Valley Organ, hermitage.

She was a winner of several awards for her oil paintings and was renouned for her organ and piano playing throughout the valley.

Surviving are: her husband, Kenneth Eugene Palmer Sr., whom she married July 14, 1937; a daughter, Mary Ellen Davey, Sharpsville; two sons, Kenneth E. Jr., Oil City; and David G., Woodsfield, Ohio; a brother, Gene Rice, Seneca, Pa.; a twin brother, George Rice, Lenexa, Ks.; three sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Mildred) Neal, Slippery Rock; Mrs. James (Beula) Jones, New Wilmington; and Gladys Corner, Cochranton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Harold, Budd and Jack Rice; and a sister, Mable Martin.


PALMER

Mrs. Kenneth Eugene (Georgia Mae Rice), 77, South Shenango Street, Mercer.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (8-12-97); and 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday (8-13-97) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME OF LEESBURG VILLAGE, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant.
