William E. `Billy' Beggs

Marine veteran worked at Greenville Steel Car

Funeral will be Friday for William E. ``Billy'' Beggs, 1125 Georgetown Road, New Vernon Township. He died at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday (8-19-97) in his home after a brief illness. He was 68.

Mr. Beggs was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Sandy Lake Township to William H. and Edith Tribby Beggs.

He was a 1946 graduate of the former Sandy Lake High School.

A Marine veteran, he was a staff sergeant serving in Korea and in the Marine Reserves.

Mr. Beggs retired in 1986 after 35 years from the former Greenville Steel Car Co. Previously, he was a school bus driver; and a tractor-trailer driver for various companies for many years.

Mr. Beggs was a Protestant.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 429, Meadville.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with family members to Blue Grass Festivals.

Mr. Beggs was an avid reader of American history, with special interest in the Civil War.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Phyllis J. Stallsmith, whom he married Nov. 28, 1963; three daughters, Edith Cooper and Mrs. Stephen (Cheryl) Rowland, both Sandy Lake; and Gail E., Moon Township, Pa.; a stepsister, Judy Wood, New Jersey; a grandson; and a stepgranddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, LeOta Margaret Shaffer and Elizabeth Beggs; and an infant son.

Marie Bice

Obituary was published 8-19-97

Mrs. Bice is survived by three brothers, Richard, Dean and Robert Badger, all of East Liverpool, Ohio. The Herald omitted the information.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren. The Herald incorrectly listed the information.

Mrs. Lloyd W. (Marie), 76, of 186 Cranberry Road, Pine Township, formerly of Barkeyville Road.

Mary Sabol, O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury, formerly of Farrell, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (8-19-97) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 68.

John W. Waleff

Greenville man was 28-year machinist for B&LE Railroad

Funeral will be Thursday for John W. Waleff, 194 Clarksville St., Greenville. He died at 6 p.m. Monday (8-18-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Greenville. He was 49.

Mr. Waleff was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Greenville to Peter P. and Marian McGrath Waleff.

He was a 1965 graduate of St. Michael's School, Greenville.

He retired as a machinist after 28 years from Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Co., Greenville.

Mr. Waleff was a volunteer for The Good Shepherd Center Inc., Greenville.

An avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing.

Mr. Waleff enjoyed flea markets.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Sandra E. ``Sandy'' Mowry, whom he married Sept. 14, 1969; a son, Stevan E., Sandy Lake; a daughter, Mrs. Donald W. (Cinda L.) Watkins Jr., Derry, Pa.; his parents, Greenville; and a sister, Mrs. Roy (Patricia A.) Krepp, Greenville.
