Kostas Arvanitakis

Self-employed manufacturer was born in Greece

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. _ Kostas Arvanitakis, Orland Park, Ill., died at 12:25 p.m. Aug. 15, 1997, in Palos Community Hospital. He was 70.

Mr. Arvanitakis was born March 12, 1927, in Trianda Rhodes, Greece, to Savas and Kiriakoula Kipriotis.

A self-employed filter manufacturer, he retired from Hydro-Tech Environmental Systems Inc., Mokena, Ill.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Sophia Bougiotopoulos, whom he married May 5, 1963; a son, Savas, Orland Park; two sisters, Irene Caravolias, Farrell; and Marouly Gregoras, Greece.

Funeral was Tuesday (8-19-97) in Constantine and Helen Church, Palos Hills, Ill. Burial was in Bethania Cemetery, Justice, Ill.


Genevieve Peterson Kremm

Former Greenville resident was cook for hospital

CONCORD, Calif. _ Genevieve Peterson Kremm, formerly of 5 Eagle St., Greenville, died Wednesday (8-20-97) in the home where she lived for the past eight years. She was 96.

Mrs. Kremm was born Aug. 12, 1901, in Harriman, Tenn., to Richmond and Christine Myers Wilkes.

She was a cook for Horizon Hospital System, Greenville, for 34 years. She also cooked for various restaurants.

She attended First Baptist Church, Greenville. An artist, she was active in the Greenville Senior Center.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mildreth Parsons, Concord, Calif; and Genevieve Bluedorn, New Castle; two sons, Milton Peterson, Fort Myers, Fla.; and Raymond Peterson, Winston Salem, N.C.; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Besides her first husband, Murray Peterson, who died in 1947, and her second husband, John Kremm, she was preceded in death by two sisters, and four brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Concord, 2051 Harrison St., Concord, Calif., 94520, or First Baptist Church, 60 Shenango St., Greenville.

Mrs. John (Genevieve Peterson), 96, of Concord, Calif., formerly of 5 Eagle St., Greenville.

Burial: Zion Cemetery, Stoneboro.


Theresa C. Krokoski

Good Shepherd member worked for Westinghouse

Theresa C. Krokoski, 19 Dogwood Lane, West Middlesex, died Friday (8-22-97) in the emergency room of South General Hospital, Middleburg Heights, Ohio. She was 73.

Mrs. Krokoski was born March 23, 1924, in Farrell to Joseph and Sophia Balluch Dudash.

She had worked for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Farrell.

Surviving are: a daughter, Judith Ann Selenchik, West Middlesex; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Sed and Mrs. John (Ann) Jurenovich, both of Sharon; two brothers, James W. Dudash, Pulaski; and Francis Dudash, Houston; and two grandchildren.

Her husband, Henry F. Krokoski, died July 3, 1982. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Veronica Levesque, and a brother, Joseph Dudash.

Mrs. Henry F. (Theresa C.), 73, of 19 Dogwood Lane, West Middlesex.

Service: Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday (8-25-97) in Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, with the Monsignor Richard Mayer, pastor, as celebrant.

James Howard `Hud' Nugent

World War II veteran worked at Sharon Steel

Funeral will be Monday for James Howard ``Hud'' Nugent, 490 Sherman Ave., Sharon, who died at 5:55 a.m. Friday (8-22-97). He was 86.

Mr. Nugent was born May 24, 1911, in Wheatland to John and Mary Jane Cousins Nugent.

A 1930 graduate of Farrell High School, he served in Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a furnace operator for the former Sharon Steel Corp. for 39 years, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286 and the Italian Home, both Farrell.

Surviving are: a daughter, Ida Mae Palko, Beaver Falls; two sons, Keith A. Nugent, Sharon; and Mark E. Nugent, Transfer; three sisters, Ida Nugent and Helen Nugent, both Hermitage; and Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Reigelman, Buffalo, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

His wife, the former Meriel L. Meister, whom he married April 9, 1946, died May 21, 1977.

He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Susan Kunkel, Ann Joho and Martha Nugent, and two brothers, Calvin and Ira Nugent.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

James Howard ``Hud,'' 86, of 490 Sherman Ave., Sharon.

Kenneth E. Shaw

Army Air Corps pilot enjoyed hunting, fishing

WARREN, Ohio _ Kenneth E. Shaw, 738 Champion St. E., formerly of Sharon, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday (8-21-97) at home, after an extended illness. He was 75.

Mr. Shaw was born July 26, 1922, in Newton Falls, Ohio, to Norman and Ethel Little Shaw.

An Army Air Corps pilot during World War II, he had been a slitter operator for General Motors Corp.'s Lordstown (Ohio) assembly plant for 10 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. William Catholic Church, Champion, Ohio, and the American Legion, Warren. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Marilyn Sabo; three daughters, Laraine Beach and Kathleen Croft, both Warren; and Joanne Peace, Rancho Cu, Calif.; three sons, Kenneth N. Shaw, a lawyer from Warren; Richard Shaw, Champion; and James Shaw, Orlando, Fla; a brother, Herbert Shaw, Sharon; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Durward Shaw, and two grandchildren.

Kenneth E., 75, of 738 Champion St. E., Warren, Ohio.

Herbert Paul Tingley, 3000 Villa Road, Sebring, Fla., and Shady Acres Campground, Linesville, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday (8-22-97) in his Florida home. He was 79.
