William Foster `Junior' Ball

Former Springfield Twp. man was Copperweld retiree

William Foster ``Junior'' Ball, 7925 First St., Masury, formerly of Springfield Township, died at 3 p.m. Saturday (8-23-97) at home after a heart attack. He was 70.

Mr. Ball was born July 23, 1927, in Springfield Township to William T. and Matilda Grace Foster Ball.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He retired from the melt shop of Copperweld Steel, Warren, Ohio.

Mr. Ball was a Protestant.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7465, Springfield Township; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 327, Sharon; and the Naus Club, Vienna.

Surviving are: his former wife, Meredith Hileman Ball Hassell, whom he married Nov. 3, 1945, Transfer; two daughters, Pamela Helen Mozilo, Queens, N.Y.; and Gwen Ann Gilmore, Sharon; two sons, William Vernon, Hartford; and William T., Venus, Pa.; a sister, Bernadine Giesler, Saxonburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Arthur; and a granddaughter, Kathy Ann Ball.

Kathy D. Fitzsimons

'74 Greenville grad was LPN, active in PTO, softball league

Kathy D. Fitzsimons, 19 Sherrard Ave., Greenville, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday (8-24-97) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 41.

Mrs. Fitzsimons was born Aug. 13, 1956, in Natrona Heights, Pa., to Lee H. and Loraine Reichard Gariepy.

She was a 1974 graduate of Greenville High School and an alumna of Parma (Ohio) Nursing School.

She was a licensed practical nurse for Dr. R.E. Kerry. Previously she worked at St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township; and Horizon Hospital System, Greenville.

Mrs. Fitzsimons was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville.

She served in the Parent-Teacher Organization of Greenville Area School District and was a room mother.

Mrs. Fitzsimons was active in coordinating the Greenville Area Ladies Softball League each year.

Surviving are: her husband, Shawn W. Fitzsimons, whom she married Nov. 22, 1985; two daughters, Lindsay A. and Lauren K., both at home; her parents, Greenville; a sister, Patti J. Gibson, Greenville; a brother, James L. Gariepy, Decatur, Ind.; and a grandmother, Ann Gariepy.

Grace Mineo

Farrell homemaker was Our Lady of Fatima member

Grace Mineo, 916 Beechwood Ave., Farrell, died at 10:05 p.m. Saturday (8-23-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Shenango Valley, Farrell, after an extended illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Mineo was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Provincia D'Aquila Bungara Abbuzzi, Italy, to Christino and Maria Yannessi Tataseo.

She immigrated July 4, 1920, through Ellis Island and settled in Farrell where she attended Farrell area schools.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Mineo was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

Her husband, Joseph Mineo, whom she married Sept. 24, 1932, died Jan. 30, 1978.

Surviving are: three daughters, Caroline, at home; Mrs. Jerry (Mary Ann) Wiesen, Sharpsville; and Jean, Sharon; a son, Anthony, Sharon; two brothers, Victor Tataseo, Phoenix; and Tony Tataseo, Sharpsville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, infant Carmella Tataseo; Jessie Alter; and Florence Elia; and a brother, Danny Tataseo.

Charles C. `Mick' Parker

Was retired lathe operator for Cooper Cameron Corp.

Charles C. ``Mick'' Parker, 518 N. Broad St., Grove City, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday (8-24-97) in Grove Manor, Grove City, after a four-year illness. He was 83.

Mr. Parker was born Dec. 30, 1913, in Findley Township to William and Minnie Metz Parker.

He retired in 1977 after 40 years as a lathe operator for Cooper Cameron Corp., Grove City.

Mr. Parker was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City.

Surviving is his wife, the former Kathryn ``Kate'' Klugh, whom he married May 24, 1941.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Thomas, Zack, Lawrence, Jay and an infant, John; and a sister, Betty Bogard.

Robert P. Phillips, 151 Morton St., Wheatland, died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday (8-24-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Shenango Valley, Farrell. He was 56.

Harry Glenn Robb

Fla. man, a Cooper Cameron retiree, is survived by 82

LECANTO, Fla. _ Harry Glenn Robb, 3545 W. Whippoorwill St., formerly of Wolf Creek Township and Butler, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday (8-22-97) at home. He was 93.

Mr. Robb was born Feb. 16, 1904, in Butler to Robert E. and Anna Mary Miller Robb.

He retired in 1965 after 26 1/2 years as a gear cutter at Cooper Cameron Corp., Grove City. Previously, he was a clerk for 23 years at Ham's Grocery Store, Butler.

Mr. Robb was a member of Crystal River (Fla.) Presbyterian Church, and formerly of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Wolf Creek Township, and Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Mildred Belle Moser, whom he married Oct. 12, 1931; two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Annabelle C.) Paxton, Seabrook, Texas; and Mrs. Donald (Marcia L.) LaVan, Jackson Center; two sons, Thomas E., Crystal River; and William E., Greenville; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Earla L. Dunlap and Cora L. Kiser; four brothers, Vernor M., Stanley M., Clifford E. and Howard C.; a son, Harry Glenn Jr.; and an infant daughter.

Burton D. Smith

WWII Navy vet worked in Greenville auto parts stores

Burton D. Smith, 8 Birch Drive, Greenville, died Sunday morning (8-24-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Greenville. He was 79.

Mr. Smith was born March 30, 1918, in Warren, Ohio, to Daniel S. and Mary Martha McElwee Smith.

He attended Aspinwall High School, Pittsburgh.

A Navy veteran, he served from 1939-45 during World War II as a chief petty officer in the South Pacific.

Mr. Smith was a counter sales person for NAPA Auto Parts, Greenville, retiring in July 1995. Previously he was a manager for more than 25 years at Grassell Auto Parts, Greenville.

He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Greenville.

Mr. Smith belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3374, Hempfield Township; and USS San Juan Navy Retirees Group, who frequently meet for reunions.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Ruth A. Rice, whom he married Dec. 22, 1948; a daughter, Mrs. John (Deborah) Conner, Newton Falls, Ohio; two sons, James B., Fairfield, Conn.; and Robert J., Pittsburgh; a sister, Florence Baker, Pittsburgh; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
