Helen Lucas Bradel

Delaware Township woman was homemaker, avid golfer

Helen Lucas Bradel, St. John's Road, Delaware Township, formerly of Moon Township, Allegheny County, died at 7:06 p.m. Friday (8-29-97) in White-Cliff Nursing Home, West Salem Township. She was 70.

Mrs. Bradel was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Sewickley to Larry and Louise Vottler Lucas.

A 1945 graduate of Sewickley High School, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville. She was also a member of Greenville Country Club and was an avid golfer.

Surviving are: her husband, Paul E. Bradel, whom she married Aug. 6, 1948; three daughters, Tevis DiMascio, Boardman, Ohio; Deann Hart, McMurray, Pa.; and Amy Heiles, Franklin Park, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Ben A. `Tinner Ben' Byler

Retired Lake Twp. farmer owned and operated tin shop

Ben A. ``Tinner Ben'' Byler, 1244 S. Vernon Road, Lake Township, died at 3:45 p.m. Saturday (8-30-97) at home, following a brief illness. He was 76.

Mr. Byler was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Middlefield, Ohio, to Andrew J. and Clara B. Schrock Byler.

A retired farmer, he owned and operated a tin shop.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Fannie M. Burkholder, whom he married Jan. 15, 1942; five daughters, Mrs. Crist (Martha) Byler, Rochester Mills, Pa.; Mrs. Melvin (Mary) Mullet, Woodhull, New York; Mrs. Wollie (Amanda) Coblentz, Rochester Mills, Pa.; Mrs. Wollie (Clara) Byler, and Esther Byler, both of Mercer; six sons, Jonas B. Byler, Sugar Grove, Pa.; Andrew B. Byler, Punxsutawney; Mose B. Byler, Dayton, Pa.; Manas B. Byler, Stoneboro; Benjamin B. Byler, Troy, N.Y.; and Lester B. Byler, Atlantic; three sisters, Mrs. David J. (Susan) Troyer, New Wilmington; Mattie Farmwald, Woodhull, N.Y.; and Mrs. Ben (Clara) Girod, Salem, Ind.; and a brother, Andrew A. Byler, Lewisville, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

R. Courtney McClelland

R. Courtney McClelland, Denver, formerly of Grove City, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Aug. 10, 1997, in Colorado. He was 43.

Local memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday (8-31-97) in Bethany Presbyterian Church, Mercer, with the Rev. Stanley Keehlwetter, pastor, officiating.

Mary F. Morar

Mary F. Morar, 685 Briarwood Road, Hermitage, died at 6:12 p.m. Saturday (8-30-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Farrell. She was 83.

Brenda P. Newton

Mercer woman was active in multiple sclerosis cause

Brenda F. Newton, 78 Lake Road, Jefferson Township, died Saturday (8-30-97) in Horizon Health System, Greenville, following an extended illness. She was 34.

Mrs. Newton was born Oct. 4, 1962, in Sharon to William T. and Mary ``Pat'' Rogers Collins.

A graduate of Mercer High School, she was a 1981 graduate of Penn State Cosmetology Academy.

A homemaker, she was a coordinator of the 1997 multiple sclerosis walk in Grove City, and had been active in raising funds for multiple sclerosis.

Surviving are her husband, Matthew E. Newton, whom she married Sept. 5, 1981; a daughter, Faith N. Newton; a son, Matthew E. Newton Jr., both at home; her parents, Mercer; a sister, Mrs. William (Cindy) Furman, Hermitage; and a brother, William T. Collins Jr., Hadley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Allegheny District, 1040 Fifth Ave., 2nd Floor, Pittsburgh, PA.

C. Emerson Perrine

Mercer Forge retiree was active in blind association

C. Emerson Perrine, River Road, Pulaski Township, Lawrence County, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday (8-29-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Farrell, of a heart attack. He was 58.

Mr. Perrine was born June 28, 1939, in Woodworth, Ohio, to Clifford S. and Georgia Higbee Perrine.

He worked for Rockwell and Lockley Manufacturing, New Castle, and later retired from Mercer Forge.

He was actively involved with the Mercer County Blind Association. He was also a member of the Ham Operators Club; his call letters were N3YSG.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Mary Ann Fobes, whom he married July 14, 1962; two daughters, Catherine Ann Harris, Mercer; and Christine Ann Perrine, Temple, Texas; a son, Timothy M. Perrine, Bessemer, Pa.; a sister, Rosella Glassburn, Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, Sterling A. Perrine, Hinkley, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Blind Association of Mercer or Lawrence County.
