Clyde I. Diefenderfer

U.S. Steel retiree worked at Greenville area plants

Funeral will be Thursday for Clyde I. Diefenderfer, 179 College Ave., Greenville. He died early Sunday morning (8-31-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Greenville. He was 89.

Mr. Diefenderfer was born July 5, 1908, in Greenville to Frederick and Mary Beil Diefenderfer.

He retired as a foreman from American Bridge, a division of U.S. Steel, Phoenix. Previously, he worked at Chicago Bridge and Iron Co.'s former Hempfield Township plant; the former Greenville Steel Car Co.; and Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Co., Greenville.

Mr. Diefenderfer was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Eureka Lodge 290, Greenville; Scottish Rite's New Castle Consistory; El Zereba, Phoenix; and York Rite of Free Masonry, Scottsdale, Ariz.

He belonged to Calvary United Methodist Church, Greenville.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Edna M. McClimans, whom he married March 17, 1928; two sisters, Jessie Foster, Bellflower, Calif.; and Jane Mitchell, Valley Center, Calif.; and a brother, Frederick, Williams, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria A. ``Miss D'' Diefenderfer, who died Dec. 31, 1987; a brother; and two sisters.

Donald E. `Dodo' Golub Sr.

Sharon businessman was owner of roofing company

Donald E. ``Dodo'' Golub Sr., 583 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon, died Monday morning (9-1-97) after an extended illness. He was 66.

Mr. Golub was born June 25, 1931, in Farrell to Steve and Mary Lipka Golub.

He graduated in 1948 from Hickory High School, Hermitage, after attending Farrell High School until his junior year.

Mr. Golub was the owner and operator of Golub Roofing Co., Sharon.

He was a member and past secretary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 327, Sharon.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon.

His former wife, Eleanor Coonce Golub, preceded him in death.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Gianvito (Cindy) Boccuzzi, Hermitage; Mrs. Christopher (Barbara) Develli, Sharpsville; and Mrs. Nicholas (Donna) Corrado, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; five sons, Donald E. Jr., Sharon school board member; Robert Alan, Los Angeles; Richard L., Cleveland; and Randy William and Gary Paul, both Sharon; a brother, Jerry, Hearn, Texas; and 13 grandchildren.

Besides his former wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Keating; and his stepfather, Harry Cashmore.

Donald E. ``Dodo,'' 66, of 583 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Thursday (9-4-97) in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon, with the Rev. John Voytek, assistant pastor, as celebrant.

Larry M. MacArthur

Pulaski man was retired from bakery, active Mason

Larry M. MacArthur, Shady Lane, Pulaski, died at 9:37 a.m. Sunday (8-31-97) in the hospital of Jameson Health System, New Castle. He was 73.

Mr. MacArthur was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Albion, Pa., to Chester Tantlinger and Dora Johns MacArthur.

He was a World War II Air Force veteran.

Retiring in 1985, he was employed by Nickles Bakery, New Castle.

He was a member of Scottish Rite's New Castle Consistory and its Legion of Honor; Northwestern Pennsylvania Past Commanders and Line Officers Association; Free and Accepted Masons Gateway to the West Council 5; Golden Triangle of York Rite College 32; and Silver Trowel Council of Anointed Kings of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mr. MacArthur was a life member of Joshua Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania; and Keystone Priory 26, Knights York Cross of Honor.

He was past thrice potent master of New Castle Lodge of Perfection and master of Hiram Council 45, Royal and Select Master Masons.

Mr. MacArthur was past master of Westminster Lodge 727; past high priest of Delta Royal Arch Chapter 170; and past commander of Lawrence Commandry 62.

He was a member of Shenango Presbyterian Church, New Castle.

Surviving are: his companion, Pearl Googe, who lived with him for 12 years; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Rowe, Mercer; a sister, Faye Rapp, Sharpsville; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry MacArthur Jr.; two brothers; and two sisters.

Larry M., 73, Shady Lane, Pulaski.

Faye C. Todd

Active in church, she worked on farm, at area businesses

Faye C. Todd, 186 Elliott Road, Wolf Creek Township, died unexpectedly at 8:10 p.m. Sunday (8-31-97) in Hamot Medical Center, Erie. She was 69.

Mrs. Todd was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Butler County to Boyd S. and Opal Mae Wilcox Christy.

She attended the former Stoneboro High School.

She worked at Grace and Todd Drive-In, Grove City, and at Todd's Gallery of Gifts, Volant. Previously, she was employed at the former Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Grove City, for numerous years. She retired in 1993 after working with her husband on their dairy farm for more than 47 years.

A devout Christian, Mrs. Todd was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Jackson Center, where she was past president of United Methodist Women.

She was a member of Mercer County Living Center's Ladies Auxiliary and formerly belonged to the Pennsylvania Farmers Association.

Surviving are: her husband, William J. Todd, whom she married Nov. 22, 1945; five daughters, Mrs. J. Edward (Shirley) Robson, New Bern, N.C.; Mrs. James D. (Ida Mae) Grace; Mrs. Larry M. (Mary Beth) Geibel; Mrs. Steve (Kay) Strange; and Mrs. Mark R. (Karen) Smith, all Grove City; a sister, Sara Shirey, Sandy Lake; two brothers, John Christy, Sandy Lake; and Larry Christy, Grove City; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Garth Christy and Boyd S. Christy Jr.; and two sisters, Veda Blair and Dorcas Welton.
