Paul Agresti

Retired National Castings welder was Herald driver

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday for Paul Agresti, 900 Indiana Ave., Farrell. He died at 9 a.m. Saturday (9-6-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Shenango Valley, Farrell. He was 94.

Mr. Agresti was born March 31, 1903, in Luxon, Pa., to Sam and Josephine Volpe Agresti.

He was a welder for 35 years at the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp., Sharon, retiring in 1966. He was a driver for The Herald from 1967-81.

Mr. Agresti was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

He belonged to the Italian Home and New Deal Club, both Farrell.

An avid bowler, he bowled at Sunset Bowling Lanes, Farrell.

His wife, the former Angeline Picino, whom he married June 1934, died April 16, 1981.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Nick (Lucille) Marnejon, Hermitage; five sisters, Catherine Trotta, Farrell; Mildred DiGerolamo, Arnold, Pa.; Maryann Pallante, Fort Myers, Fla.; Jennie Williot, Sharon; and Antoinette ``Toni'' Clemente, Cape Coral, Fla.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Concetta DeMarco; Rose Agresti; and Angeline Guerriero; and a brother, Nick.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (9-10-97) in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, with the Rev. Donald E. Berdis, pastor, as celebrant. Blessing at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.

Burial: St. Anthony's Cemetery, Farrell.


Clarence `Skip' Drake

Retired Springfield Township road official was farmer

Clarence ``Skip'' Drake, Leesburg Grove City Road, Springfield Township, died 12:20 a.m. Sunday (9-7-97) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after a two-month illness. He was 84.

Mr. Drake was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Springfield Township to William Samuel and A. Elizabeth Brenneman Drake.

In 1968, he became a Springfield Township road supervisor for 12 years until retirement. Previously he was a a self-employed farmer.

He was a member of Leesburg Presbyterian Church, where he was a former elder and trustee.

Mr. Drake belonged to the Board of Directors of Leesburg Cemetery Association.

His wife, the former Vera Grace Stitt, whom he married June 14, 1933, died Feb. 26.

Surviving are: a son, William H. ``Bill'', Transfer; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Cummings, Springfield Township, Volant; two sisters, Viola Lowry, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Dorothy Shaw, Morehead City, N.C.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Steven Liszka.

Clarence ``Skip,'' 84, Leesburg Grove City Road, Springfield Township.

Robert H. Heasley

Deer Creek Twp. man was sheet metal worker, Navy vet



PITTSBURGH _ Robert H. Heasley, Deer Creek Township, formerly of Sewickley and Avalon, Pa., died Friday (9-5-97) in Allegheny General Hospital. He was 70.

Mr. Heasley was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Sewickley to Robert H. and Margaret Harkness Heasley.

A Navy veteran, he served during World War II.

Mr. Heasley was a sheet metal worker of Local 12.

Surviving are: his wife of 50 years, the former Patricia Moran; three daughters, Maxine Fox and Margaret H. Mindell, both Michigan; and Betsey H. Sisko, Hatfield, Pa.; two sons, Robert H. III and William H., both of Sewickley; 10 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Robert H., 70, Deer Creek Township, formerly of Sewickley and Avalon, Pa.

Michael P. `Jack' Murphy

Hadley man was musician, worked at former Steel Car

Michael P. ``Jack'' Murphy, 893 Mitchell Hill Road, Hadley, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday (9-7-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Greenville, of natural causes. He was 59.

Mr. Murphy was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Greenville to Harry and Edna Mae Rhodes Murphy.

He was employed by the former Greenville Steel Car Co. for 20 years.

A talented musical artist, he enjoyed song writing and playing stringed instruments.

Mr. Murphy enjoyed carpentry and fishing.

Surviving are: a son, Mark A., Hadley; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Julie) Davenport, Greenville; a brother, Harry Jr., Greenville; and three sisters, Mary Prosser-Keck, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) McHale and Margaret Murphy, all of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James E.; and two sisters, Wannah Rhodes and Jeanie Reichard.

John A. Slagle

Retired Air Force vet loved outdoor sports, antiques

John A. Slagle, 2894 Scrubgrass Road, Wolf Creek Township, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday (9-6-97) in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Oakland Division, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness. He was 75.

Mr. Slagle was born March 17, 1922, in Mosgrove, Pa., to Alf and Marie Duncan Slagle.

He graduated from Parker (Pa.) High School.

An Air Force veteran, he enlisted in September 1941 and served as a technical sergeant in China, Burma and India during World War II. Retiring in October 1963, he served three tours of duty in Alaska.

Mr. Slagle contributed to a publication on the history of telephone insulators.

He was an avid antique collector, hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Rose Marie Maxwell, whom he married April 17, 1947; two sons, Richard M., Grove City; and Lloyd ``Tom'', Lake City, Pa.; three daughters, Judith Argue, Illinois; Pamela Boyer, Dempseytown, Pa.; and Mrs. Michael (Gwendolyn) Snavely, Franklin; a sister, Marcie Corbett, Foxburg, Pa.; a brother, Gerald, Parker, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ruben; and an infant granddaughter, Ann Marie Snavely.
