Frank Bicek

Ex-Hermitage man retired as millwright from Sawhill

Frank Bicek, 570 Cannery Road, Springfield Township, formerly of Morefield Road, Hermitage, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday (9-16-97) in Horizon Hospital System, Greenville, after an extended illness. He was 90.

Mr. Bicek was born Oct. 1, 1906, in Farrell to Anton and Mary Turek Bicek.

He attended Farrell area schools.

Mr. Bicek was a millwright in Armco Inc. _ Sawhill Tubular Division, Sharon, retiring Oct. 29, 1971. Previously he worked for the former Mercer Tube Co. and Carnegie Steel, both in Sharon.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer.

Mr. Bicek was an avid hunter.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Geraldine Novak, whom he married May 12, 1928; a daughter, Irene J. Bicek, at home; a son, David F. Sr., Mercer; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Agnes) Parcetich, Farrell; and Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Naydusak, Sharon; a brother, Martin, Sharon; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Odel; and two brothers, Anton and William.

Burial: Cremation followed by burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.

Frank Grande

Frank Grande, 1097 Hillcrest St., Sharon, died at 11:23 a.m. Tuesday (9-16-97) in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage. He was 90.

Alice Haggerty Hadley

Teacher formerly of Sharon taught bridge at Buhl Club

SAN JOSE, Calif. _ Alice Haggerty Hadley, San Jose, formerly of Service Avenue, Sharon, died Sept. 9, 1997, at home. She was 94.

Mrs. Hadley was born April 14, 1903.

She was a school teacher.

An avid bridge player, Mrs. Hadley taught at the F. H. Buhl Club, Sharon, for many years.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Rung, Saratoga, Calif.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was in Villa Fontana Chapel, San Jose. Interment will be in November in Hadley Cemetery.


Edward O. Larimer

Former Sharon man worked security for Ford Motor Co.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. _ Edward O. Larimer, Garfield Heights, Ohio, formerly of Sharon and Greenfield, died Sunday (9-14-97) while vacationing. He was 73.

Mr. Larimer was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Hubbard to David and Elsie Jennings Larimer.

An Army veteran, he served during World War II.

Mr. Larimer was employed for 30 years in the security department of Ford Motor Co. Stamping Plant, Walton Hills, Ohio, retiring as a plant security supervisor.

He was known as a tinkerer, and enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Shirley McCleery, whom he married November 1947; two sons, Ron, Fallbrook, Calif.; and Gary, Garfield Heights; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Susan) Cronauer, Rochester Hills, Mich.; three brothers, David, Macon, Ga.; Charles, Hermitage; and George, Petersburg, Pa.; a sister, Juanita Watts, Filer, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Keith; and two brothers, Johnny and William.

Services will be Thursday (9-18-97) in Garfield Heights.


Warren H. Lentz

Mr. Lentz lived at 1887 Heritage Drive, South Shenango Township, Crawford County. The Herald listed the street name incorrectly.


Elsie E. Meenihan

Hermitage woman was active member of Grace Lutheran

Elsie E. Meenihan, formerly of Rombold Road, Hermitage, died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday (9-16-97) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 90.

Mrs. Meenihan was born Jan. 29, 1907, in Farrell to David and Katherine Klamer Rombold.

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Farrell, and served with its Ladies Aide Society.

Her husband, Michael J. Meenihan, whom she married Oct. 29, 1926, died Dec. 14, 1988.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Peggy) Morganstern, Hermitage; and Phyllis Miller, Sharon; two brothers, Fred and Lincoln Rombold, both Hermitage; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Julia Banjak, Emma Day and Catherine Rombold; three brothers, David, William and Richard Rombold; and a grandson, Rodney Morganstern.

Mary Grace Ralya Redmond

Woman was charter member of Horizon hospital auxiliary

Mary Grace Ralya Redmond, West Salem Township, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday (9-15-97) in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. She was 88.

Mrs. Redmond was born March 4, 1909, in Conneaut Lake to Alva and Dessa Mae Brown Ralya.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Greenville, and served in its Ruth Circle.

A charter member of the Auxiliary of Horizon Hospital System, Greenville, Mrs. Redmond was active until 1989.

Her husband, William G. Redmond Sr., whom she married Nov. 17, 1928, died Sept. 11, 1972.

Surviving are: a daughter, Gretchen A. Weaver, Greenville; a son, Richard L., Freeport, Pa.; a sister, Lois Sauers, Mercer; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William G. Jr., Jan. 1, 1954; a sister, Geraldine Hancock; and a brother, Darrell Ralya.

Virginia M. Ross

Slippery Rock homemaker was active in Democrat party

Virginia M. Ross, Centerville Pike, Slippery Rock, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday (9-16-97) at home after an extended illness. She was 74.

Mrs. Ross was born March 4, 1923, in Brady Township, Butler County, to Roy B. and Florence M. Bryson Grossman.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Forestville, Pa., and served with The Christian Mothers of St. Peter's Parish.

Active in the Democrat party, Mrs. Ross belonged to the Democrat Women's Club.

Her husband, Camellis L. ``Cam'' Ross, whom she married May 6, 1947, died Sept. 5, 1993.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Daniel B. (Debra L.) Shearer, Slippery Rock; and Mrs. Edward J. (Joyce A.) Tonelli, Forestville; two sons, Steven L., Slippery Rock; and James W., Rockledge, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Russell (Mable) Hoague, Mrs. Wilbur (Margie) Dittmer and Mrs. Robert (Isable) Watson, all Slippery Rock; and Evelyn G. Grossman, Grove City; two brothers, R. Jack and Robert H. Grossman, both Meadville; and eight grandchilden.

AUSTELL, Ga. _ Mabel McDonald West, Roswell, Ga., formerly of Sharon, died Monday (9-15-97) in Presbyterian Village, Austell, Ga. She was 81.

Mrs. West was born Dec. 31, 1915, in Sharpsburg, Ohio, to George and Lavina Murray Parker.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. West was a Protestant.

Her first husband, John J. McDonald Sr., and her second husband, Charles West, preceded her in death.

Surviving are: a son, John J. Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, Jill Cohn, Roswell, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
