Commodore Perry eyes 2-mill tax hike
Property owners in the Commodore Perry School District will see only a small tax increase for the 2000-01 year if directors pass the proposed budget.
Robin Johnson, business manager and board secretary, said the district anticipates a 2-mill tax increase for next year, which will bring the total millage to 132. She said the increase will cost the average taxpayer $8.96. The total budget for the year is $5,772,550 — a $208,600 increase over the 1999-00 budget.
The 2-mill tax increase is due to general operating expenses, a hospitalization increase of 15 percent and roof construction costs on the elementary part of the school, Ms. Johnson said.
The expected revenue from 1 mill of taxes is $9,311, Ms. Johnson said. The total tax assessment for property in the school district is $10,345,800 with $4,480 the average tax assessment value on each property.
