SHENANGO VALLEY

Parade participants sought for Buhl Day

The Buhl Day Parade on Labor Day, Sept. 4, will proceed west on State Street at 9:30 a.m. This year’s parade will be led by The Mercer County Bicentennial Band as a tribute to Mercer County’s 200th birthday celebration.

The Wheel Patrol and the Walking Clown Units of Masons of Western Pennsylvania will return to this year’s parade. Also featured will be Mercer County’s very own automobile, The Twombley.

Everyone who sends in an application form to participate will be assigned an area to report to for the parade formation.

The following rules are being sent to all potential participants in order to avoid any conflicts along the parade route. If you agree to participate you will be expected to abide by the rules. Anyone who does not comply will endanger their future invitation to participate. The rules are:

1. Throwing candy has become a danger to spectators, especially children. In order to avoid any accidents, anyone who wants to distribute candy will walk along the parade route and hand it out.

2. No advertisements or political campaign signs may be exhibited.

3. Soliciting of donations is prohibited.

4. All vehicles are to refrain from sounding sirens or horns along Buhl Boulevard.

Registration deadline to participate in the parade is Tuesday. Complete the registration form and mail to: Buhl Day Parade Committee, c/o Ann U’Halie, 214 Dougherty Ave., Sharon 16146 or new participants may call, Grace Gilson, 981-0609.
