SHARPSVILLE, PYMATUNING TOWNSHIP

Manager will run two housing sites

Donna Querio has been promoted by Mercer County Housing Authority to the newly created position of site manager.

Ms. Querio is in charge of income verification, apartment preparation for occupancy, grounds inspection, collection of past-due rents and other administrative chores at Sharpsville Gardens and Fay Terrace, Pymatuning Township. She works two days a week and each site, and one day a week at the authority’s main office in Sharon, where she has been in charge of rent collection.

The authority had been handling all of those duties out of its Sharon office.

"It should be easier for residents and it should be better for the authority, too," said authority Executive Director L. DeWitt Boosel. "She will be able to handle situations as they come up. We were always reacting after the fact."

Rents will continue to be collected by the main office.

Ms. Querio is being paid $21,000 a year.

Boosel said the authority is working with the Civil Service Commission to hire a manager for Malleable Heights and Mesabi Street in Sharon. It is likely someone will be hired in a couple of months, he said.

The hiring of a manager for the Farrell communities is on hold while the authority pursues plans to demolish and rebuild Steel City Terrace.

The authority is not planning to hire a manager for Valley View Homes in Mercer, Boosel said.
