New Winner Collectibles store opens downtown, offers giftware

Looking to cash in on the collectible craze, Winner Collectibles in downtown Sharon opened its doors Thursday.

Owned by the Winner family through the Sharon-based Winner Holdings Corp., the store is housed on East State Street where Sharon Commercial Printing and a health equipment business were located.

Merchandise on the third floor of The Winner, a downtown Sharon store also owned by Winner Holdings, was moved to the new location. The third floor sold Christmas and gift items and will now offer children’s apparel, said James Winner, chairman of Winner Holdings.

In addition to Christmas merchandise, the new store will offer collectibles, ceramics, oriental carpeting and gift items. Prices of the goods range from under $10 for a Christmas tree ornament to a $70,000 life-size, silver-coated reproduction of Michelangelo’s statue of David.

"You’ll see a lot of unique things here that you won’t see anywhere else,’’ Winner said.

For now the store will occupy the first floor but plans call for an expansion to the second floor. A grand opening is expected next month.
