Suspect arrested in bomb scare

A Masury man who left a threatening message on the Brookfield Middle School answering machine last weekend turned himself in to Brookfield Township police at about noon Friday.

Anthony J. Arci, 20, of 457 Lucy St., was charged with one count of inducing panic, a fourth-degree felony, police said.

Students were kept out of classrooms Monday morning for about an hour, while police, fire and school officials checked the school for a possible bomb. None was found.

According to Police Chief Dan Faustino, Arci claimed he made the threat because he was bored and stupid.

He was released on $2,500 bond and is set to appear in Eastern District Court before Judge Ronald J. Rice at 9 a.m. Thursday.

If found guilty, Arci could serve up to 18 months in prison and be fined up to $5,000.
