Man suffers hammer blows to head after fight in motel

A Farrell man was treated at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after he was bashed in the head three times with a hammer during a fight this morning, police said.

Hermitage police said they were called to Starlite Inn on South Hermitage Road at 2:56 a.m. and found blood inside and outside the room where Glenn Mosley, 38, of 1014 Darr Ave., was hit with the hammer.

Police said Mosley and hammer-wielding Lonnie Patton, 47, of Youngstown, were in a room at the motel with a woman when the men started fighting over the use of a car.

During the fight, Patton went outside, grabbed a hammer from his car, returned and bashed Mosley on top of the head three times with it, police said.

Patton spent the night behind bars in Shenango Valley Regional Lockup in Farrell and was arraigned this morning in front of District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, on charges of aggravated and simple assault and reckless endangerment. He was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $10,000 bond.
