David E. Dale/Herald

Traffic backs up in the westbound lane of Connley Boulevard in Sharon after this fatal accident at Smith Avenue Monday afternoon.
A two-vehicle accident in Sharon Monday afternoon claimed the life of a Hermitage woman.

Gertrude Buzga, 80, of 699 Pine Hollow Blvd., was killed in the 2:31 p.m. collision at Connelly Boulevard and Smith Avenue, police said.

Mrs. Buzga was a homemaker and a clerk at the former Treasure Island in Hermitage. She was the mother of two daughters and five grandchildren.

Details are sketchy about how the accident happened. Police said Mrs. Buzga was traveling north from Pine Hollow Boulevard through the intersection at Connelly when her car collided with a pickup driven by Richard T. Minor, 27, of 498 Donation Road, Hempfield Township. Police said they don’t know who was at fault in the accident, but that there were witnesses.

Mrs. Buzga was pronounced dead at 3:07 p.m. at the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. The cause of death was trauma, police said.

Minor was treated at the hospital.
