Three people set fire to a turquoise Chevrolet Cavalier with Ohio license plates at 7:40 p.m. March 1 on York Way in Sharon, police said.
They said the car was burned for the insurance money. The granddaughter of the car’s owner was the primary driver, police said. They said the granddaughter received about $5,800 in insurance money for the car.
Brian E. Ondic Jr., 19, of 452 Hull St., Sharon, was arrested at 4 p.m. Thursday at the police station on a warrant for criminal conspiracy, arson and insurance fraud, police said. They said Ondic was part of the group that set the car on fire. Ondic turned himself in, police said.Ondic was arraigned this morning before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon. He was released on his own recognizance. His preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
