Sandy Lake council will have to figure out how to cover an expected $10,000 increase in its share of the Lakeview Joint Sewer Authority’s 2001 budget.
Borough council President Bob Kaltenbaugh said Thursday they would need to decide whether to pay the higher bill with increased fees or out of surplus funds.
Part of this increase hinges on the question of whether to continue subcontracting lawn maintenance at the sewage plant or invest up to $10,000 to purchase a new lawn mower that they expect will cut the mowing time by a third. That mower is expected to have a life of 10 years and a shed would have to be built to store it.
Other proposed expenditures in the sewage budget include a catwalk that would improve safety at the facility and spare actuator motors.
