WEST MIDDLESEX

George running for a second term as borough’s mayor

West Middlesex Mayor David G. George, Jr. of 55 North St., is seeking a second term as mayor.

George, a 59-year-old Sharon Steel retiree, is a Republican.

Goerge served 15 years on borough council, with five years as council president before becoming mayor four years ago. The job pays $600 a year.

He served as president of Mercy County Regional Council of Governments, Mercer County Regional Planning Commission, Mercer County Boroughs Association, Mercer County Fire/Police, and the West Middlesex Kiwanis Club.

A life-long resident of West Middlesex, George is presently serving on the Board of Directors of Southwest Regional Police Department, and First National Bank of Pa.

During his term as mayor, he said he, along with borough council, was instrumental in obtaining several Federal Housing Grants, and borough-enhancing grants, such as the consolidation of the swimming pool with Shenango and Lackawannock townships, and construction of the new playground.

He also serves as the coordinator of the West Middlesex-Shenango Township Recycling Program.

The municipal primary is May 15.
