Frontiers Club hosts awards luncheon
The Mercer County Frontiers Club will host its annual awards luncheon at noon April 7 in the Radisson Hotel of Sharon, Shenango Township. Speaker for the event will be Yvonne Yvette Malloy, administrator of Native American Health Programs for the College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Washington, D.C.
A 1985 honor alumna of Farrell High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass.
Ms. Malloy is the niece of Aljay and Rosetta Wright of Farrell.
The 2001 Awards Program will feature presentation of the Community Service Award to Twin City Elks Lodge 187 (Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of the World); and scholarship recognition awards to African Americans from the Shenango Valley who recently completed programs of higher education. The club will also present scholarships to six area African American graduating high school seniors.
