BROOKFIELD

Gibson hearing to be rescheduled

A pretrial hearing for a Brookfield man accused of spraying semen on women shoppers in and around the Eastwood Mall shopping complex and other stores in the region will be rescheduled because of a water main break Tuesday at Warren Municipal Court.

Robert L. Gibson, III, 38, of 467 S. Albright McKay Road, was charged with one count of criminal mischief by Howland police stemming from an incident Nov. 21, 2001, in the Super Kmart.

Assistant Law Director Nick Graham, who is prosecuting the case, said he wants to see Gibson get some jail time.

"Criminal mischief is a third degree misdemeanor and the maximum jail time is 60 days," said Graham, adding that since Gibson has no priors in Howland, he may not get the sixty days.

"We're trying to work out something with Niles police, who also charged him," he said, in regards to Gibson serving more jail time.

He was also charged by Niles and Liberty Township police in December for alleged semen spraying incidents in stores in those townships.

Gibson faces pretrial hearings in the next two weeks on those charges in Girard and Niles Municipal Court.
