One of the candidates hoping to fill a vacancy on Farrell Area School Board has withdrawn his name from consideration, leaving five.

Richard Zaborowski of Farrell withdrew this week.

Still in the running are Sadie Benham, 1008 Emerson Ave., Farrell; Brenda M. Branca, 913 Indiana Ave., Farrell; Michelle Sparrow, 1111 Negley St., Farrell; Helena A. Moyer, 164 Grandview Drive, Wheatland; and John R. Brown, 1601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell.

Public interviews of the candidates will be held at 7 p.m. Monday. The board will select a replacement after the interviews, with deliberations and the vote also done publicly.

The new appointee will serve for two years, and then the seat will be subject to election.

The vacancy was created by the death of Rose Marie Branca, Ms. Branca's mother.
