Farm Bureau recognizes bank's education effortsMercer County State Bank was recognized for its support of agricultural education at the spring meeting of the Mercer County Farm Bureau recently.
Glenn Adams, representing the bank, received a certificate in appreciation for the continued support of the Pennsylvania Agriculture in the Classroom program. Carol Ann Gregg, education coordinator of the Agriculture Awareness Foundation, presented the award.
Each year the Foundation conducts a workshop for teachers at the University Park campus of Penn State University. Teachers learn how to incorporate agriculture across the curriculum.
This workshop meets the recently adopted Pennsylvania Standards for Environment and Ecology of which one is "Agriculture and Society." Teachers can also earn recertification credits under Act 48.
