9-11 edition benefits Koborie Scholarship
The Wednesday morning edition of The Herald will include a package of stories marking the one-year anniversary of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.
All of the advertising revenue associated with the anniversary package, as well as 11 cents from every copy sold at vending boxes and other retail outlets, will be donated to the Rebecca Koborie Scholarship Fund.
Miss Koborie, a 1971 graduate of Sharon High School, was killed in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. The scholarship, awarded annually to a Sharon High senior, was established through the Shenango Valley Foundation.
The stories and photos -- local, state and national -- will be published in The Herald's front section.
In addition, a special flag marking the anniversary, designed by the Newspaper Association of America, will be published in color on the back page of the front section.
It features two black stripes, representing the North and South towers that were demolished by the attacks on the World Trade Center, where Miss Koborie worked.
