Man is killed
in mower mishap

A Wolf Creek Township man was killed after the lawn tractor he was riding toppled over on him at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pardoe Sportsman's Association clubgrounds on Sportsman Road in Findley Township, state police said.

Stanley Ice, 49, of Stoneboro Road, was cutting grass along the edge of a pond dam on the club's property, police said.

The lawn tractor apparently slid off the edge, causing it to roll on top of Ice and pinning him under a rear wheel, police said.

Mercer County Deputy Coroner Dr. David Hoyt pronounced Ice dead at the scene, ruling the cause of death accidental from blunt force trauma.

Mercer East end fire department and Superior Ambulance of Grove City responded to the scene, police said.
