Mercer County Regional of Governments and Mercer County Disabilities Coalition are inviting anyone interested in being part of an advisory committee for Mercer County Community Transit's new Shared Ride Program for people with disabilities to attend a meeting at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 8 at the transit office in Hermitage.

Mercer County Community Transit was awarded a $159,250 PennDOT grant under the Rural Transportation Program for Persons with Disabilities.

Modeled after a Shared Ride program for senior citizens, riders will pay 15 percent of the cost of a ride, with the grant covering the remaining 85 percent.
