More charges filed against Farrell man

A Farrell man charged with a rash of vehicle break-ins between Nov. 8 and 14 in Hermitage is facing more charges.

Hermitage police filed three cases Thursday and two cases Tuesday against Brad A. Laverty, 24, of 1120 Weitz Ave.

Laverty is charged with:

   » One count each of theft and receiving stolen property for breaking into a pickup and stealing 70 compact discs Nov. 9 at Charlie's Specialties, 2500 Freedland Road.

   » One count each of theft and receiving stolen property for breaking into a sport utility vehicle and stealing change Nov. 9 at Charlie's Specialties.

   » Four counts of forgery and two counts of theft for cashing eight stolen checks totaling $374 at two grocery stores between Nov. 4 and 6. The checkbook was stolen Oct. 25 from Brookfield.

   » One count of theft for stealing a chain saw, $15, 27 packs of cigarettes and other items from an SUV Oct. 28 at Charlie's Specialties.

At a preliminary hearing Nov. 22, Laverty agreed to let nine cases proceed to Mercer County Common Pleas Court. He faces 15 counts of theft, seven counts of criminal mischief, four counts of receiving stolen property, three counts of forgery and one count each of identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing instruments of crime, access device fraud and criminal trespassing.
