Woman dies when her SUV rolls, hits tree, police say

A Shenango Township woman was killed in a one-car traffic accident Wednesday evening on Millburn Road in Springfield Township, state police said.

Geralyn A. Mowry, 48, of 4226 New Castle Road, was pronounced dead at the scene by Mercer County Deputy Coroner Cris H. Loutzenhiser, police said.

She died of a fractured skull, police said.

Ms. Mowry was westbound when she lost control of her sport-utility vehicle at about 5:20 while rounding a curve just east of U.S. Route 19, police said.

The SUV, which apparently was speeding, went sideways off the south side of the road, rolled and hit a tree, police said..

Ms. Mowry was not wearing a seat belt and was partly thrown, police said.

Springfield Township and Mercer East End folunteer firefighters assisted.
