Man
indicted
in child porn case

A Pine Township man and a Pittsburgh couple have been indicted on child pornography charges, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Pittsburgh.

Richard Carroll, 37, of 447 Irishtown Road; Gerald Goebert, 48; and Sharon Dorsch, 42, were charged by a grand jury Thursday with sexual exploitation of a minor, possessing child pornography, failing to notify authorities of a felony and accessory after the fact, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Carroll sexually molested and took nude photographs of a minor from December 1999 to May 2000, the indictment says.

Goebert possessed three of the photographs and converted them into computer files, the indictment says.

Ms. Dorsch was aware of the abuse, but failed to report it, and Dorsch took steps to prevent Carroll from being arrested, the indictment says.

The FBI and the Penn Hills Police Department conducted the investigation, and Carroll and Goebert were arrested through the cooperation of the U.S. Marshals Service, the FBI, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Penn Hills and state police.

If convicted of all counts, Carroll could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and fined up to $250,000. Dorsch could be imprisoned for 13 years and fined $500,000, and Goebert could be imprisoned 10 years and be fined $250,000.
