Court gets assault case filed after arrest at fire scene
Charges against a Shenango Township man charged with assaulting a policeman and interfering with firefighters battling a blaze at his brother's mobile home have been held for court.
Peter J. Fuchs, 42, of 36 E. Paul St., was charged with aggravated and simple assault, resisting arrest, failing to disperse, disorderly conduct and harassment.
District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, held the charges for court at a preliminary hearing Wednesday. Fuchs was released on his own recognizance.
Fuchs was at 20 Hnida Road, the mobile home of his brother, Michael, on Nov. 15, police said.
When police called Michael Fuchs over to identify a gun cabinet that was taken from the burning mobile home, Peter Fuchs and other family members came over and had to be told several times to step back, police said.
Peter Fuchs yelled and argued with patrolman Jason Newton, used obscene language and jammed a finger in Newton's face and chin, police said.
Firefighters had to stop fighting the fire to help keep family members away from Newton and Peter Fuchs, police said.
Peter Fuchs called for someone to help him and was sprayed with Mace by Newton to subdue him, police said.
