Snowy weather and icy road conditions were part of the reason seven people were sent to local hospitals following a two-car crash at about 4 p.m. Monday on North Keel Ridge Road about a half mile south of Lamor Road, Hermitage police said.

Brandon Smith, 18, of 1918 Winner Road, Hermitage, was driving north on North Keel Ridge when his car slid into the opposite lane and collided with a car driven by Carmella Carlson, 32, of 524 12th St., Greenville.

A passenger in Smith's car, Brandon Davis, 16, of 2685 Robertson Road, Hermitage, was thrown from the back window of the car, police said.

Davis' twin brother Brock, 16, and Smith were taken to the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, where Smith was treated and Brock and Brandon were in satisfactory condition Tuesday, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Ms. Carlson, and three passengers; 5-year-old Chevelle Carlson, 10-year old Carl Jones, and 11-year-old Zachary Davis, were all in stable condition at UPMC Horizon, Farrell, according to a nursing supervisor.

Police said Smith was charged with driving a vehicle at unsafe speed for the condition of road.
