Police say parents
abused their teen son

A Masury couple were arrested Monday on charges of domestic violence and endangering a child after they abused their son, police said.

Joseph Simpson, 43, and Theresa Simpson, 40, of 8207 Ohio St., were taken to Trumbull County Jail on Monday on charges of abusing their 16-year-old son, said Detective Pete Gibb.

At 9 a.m. Monday, Brookfield police received a call about a barefoot boy running through the snow away from a man, Gibb said. The man turned out to be the boy's father, he said.

When police found the boy, he was still shoeless and his feet were injured. Police said the boy had a fight with his parents and ran out of his home. Police also said the boy appeared as if he'd been abused; they noted bruises all over his body, many in various stages of healing.

Police said the boy told them his parents had been abusing him for the last couple of years, Gibb said.

The boy is in custody of Trumbull County Children's Services. Arraignment for the Simpsons is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday in Eastern District Court, Brookfield.
