Hermitage police said they arrested a Farrell man they believe held up a Hermitage couple with a kitchen knife at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Kenneth L. Thomas, 37, of 712 Park Ave., kicked in a door at an apartment in Orange Village, Hermitage, and threatened a 31-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman with whom he had a previous relationship, police said. Thomas grabbed a knife from the kitchen and demanded money, police said. The couple gave him $30 and he took off in a vehicle, police said. Police said they got a description of the vehicle and stopped it on Superior Street. Thomas ran but was found a short time later face down in a stream, police said. Thomas was charged with robbery, burglary, making terroristic threats and criminal mischief, police said. Another man was driving the vehicle but was not charged, police said. Thomas was arraigned before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, and was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $20,000 bond. A preliminary hearing was set for 9 a.m. May 23. |
