Board of elections posts candidates on Web site

The Trumbull County Board of Elections recently posted on its Web site the candidates who have filed petitions for township, city and school board offices.

A spokeswoman from the Trumbull County Board of Elections said potential candidates had until Wednesday to file petitions.

Competing for a seat on the Brookfield Township board of trustees are incumbent Janalyn K. Saloom, 1117 Sharon Hogue Road, who has served on the board since 1996, and former trustee John N. Miller, 6235 Amy Boyle Road, who sat on the board from 1990 to 1997.

Sylvia Addicott, 765 Kimberly Ave., is running against Roger C. Paroz, 1231 Collar Price Road, who has served since 1996, for the township clerk position.

In the school board race, incumbents Jerry M. NeCastro, 7143 Springdale Drive, and John Zebroski, 7220 Wildwood Drive, will be up against newcomers Wilba Marie Radu, 605 Syme St., and Joseph P. Raykie, 6837 Grove St., as well as former school board member Louis Saloom, 1117 Sharon Hogue Road.

Brookfield residents will also vote on a permanent 1.6 mill levy to provide funds for the township fire department.

In Hubbard, Michael K. Toda, 344 Elizabeth St., and James F. Palumbo, 77 W. Park Ave., will run against incumbent George P. Praznik, 134 Buckeye Drive, for mayor. For the city council race, David A. Bolchalk, 137 Elmwood Drive, Joseph S. Carano, 698 Burdie Drive, and incumbents, Douglas L. Rohrer, 132 S. Main St. and William J. Williams, 168 Belle Vista, will compete for three seats on council.

Frederick Hanley, 7310 Bedford Road, and Sue Ann Goterba, 2515 Anthony Circle, will run unopposed for Hubbard Township trustee and township clerk, respectively.

John C. Messersmith, 8293 Thompson Sharpsville Road, will run unopposed for Hartford township trustee, while Kristine R. Hunkus will also run unopposed for township clerk.
