THE KING is still alive _ long live the King!

The Farrell High Steelers reign supreme for another year in Pennsylvania Class A football, a tribute to a fine coaching staff and a group of kids who would never say die.

Winning a second straight title is a difficult feat in any sport _ the pressure is always increased as you try to repeat.

Coach Lou Falconi was the cog that held the wheel together in the road to Altoona this year. This year's team mirrored the attitude of their coach.

Cocky, but not overconfident. Tough, but not dirty. Intense when needed, but cool when the heat is on.

Almost every game throughout the playoffs was a nailbiter. But consistently winning those kind of games _ overcoming injuries and adversity _ is the mark of a true champion. A winner knows how to win.

Farrell constantly made the big play when the big play was needed. In the fourth quarter of those tight games, the Steelers defense raised their play to a higher level.

Coach Falconi can be somewhat brash in his praise of his team. From the start of the season on, he was confident that his team could win another state title and sometimes he even said it.

Most coaches would give you the proverbial ``coach-speak.'' They always downplay the ability of their kids. Falconi doesn't take that approach and most times he doesn't need to do so. His kids are confident no matter what.

Farrell produces a different type of kid. Most of their lives they have heard about winning teams and state champions. There is a tradition of winning at that school like none other. The tiny school has produced 18 state champions in various sports _ quite a record.

We congratulate Falconi, the coaches and the players who made this another special season for Farrell and for Mercer County. But once again, the heat is on.

Farrell produces champions. This doesn't always make it easy on the kids and coaches, but it makes it a challenge that athletes can appreciate.

Fans have come to expect no less than winning in Title Town. Talk of a three-peat has already begun!
