The Kennedy Christian High School girls basketball team is back on the winning track and so is the annual Sharon Lions Club-W.U. Hoyle Tournament of Champions, celebrating its 60th anniversary this week.

The KC girls, who lost in the PIAA state semifinals recently, Sunday opened play in the Hoyle girls underclassmen bracket under the sponsorship of Sacred Heart and rolled over the Mercer Boosters, 47-21.

Other results in the girls quarterfinals Sunday at the F.H. Buhl Club gym:

Neely/Cashdollar (Grove City) routed Cresswell's (Commodore Perry), 61-20; Lenbil's (Sharon) opened up a tight first-half contest to post a 54-40 triumph over Tri-City Collision (Sharpsville); Slippery Rock pulled away from Jamestown, 54-27.

On Tuesday at Sharon High School, Neely/Cashdollar will take on Lenbil's in the 6 p.m. preliminary, while Slippery Rock will square off with Sacred Heart immediately following at approximately 7:30.




Today (Monday 3/24)

The boys underclassmen bracket debuts today at Sharon High gym with four games on tap. The schedule shows:
6:15 p.m. _ Hickory vs. Mercer;
7:30 _ Venango Christian vs. Pizza Joe's (Mohawk);
8:45 _ Slippery Rock vs. Sharpsville;
10 _ Commodore Perry vs. West Middlesex.




Sunday Results

Neely/Cashdollar 61, Cresswell 20

The quartet of Jessica Clancey (13), Stacey Harvey (12), Erin Kennedy (11) and Cara Denniston (10) all reached double digits for the victors, who led 33-12 at intermission.

Lenbil's 54, Tri-City Collision 40

Lenbil's led 22-19 at halftime, but Musinah Saleem poured in a dozen of her game-high 22 points during the 16-minute second half to pace the triuuph.

Jenny Bell added 14 markers for the winners.

For Tri-City Collision, Patty Funk was the lone double-digit scorer, also with 14.

Slippery Rock 54, Jamestown 27

Erica Youngman tallied a game-high 27-point performance, including a trio of treys, to lead Slippery Rock, which led by only a 29-20 margin at intermission.

Kelly Burford emerged as Jamestown's lone double-figure scorer, with 10 points.

Sacred Ht. 47, Mercer Boosters 21

Although no one reached double digits, 10 players contributed to Sacred Heart's triumph, with Jamie Cicuto, Tiffany Lanier and Sara Laslow evenly dividing 24 points.

The Boosters, who trailed 28-12 at halftime, failed to register a double-figure scorer.
