Wednesday's late game

» Sharpsville 59, Venango Catholic 41 -- At Oil City, Sharpsville rolled to its first victory of the season by riding a 25-9 second-quarter spree.

» Sharon 63, Poland 9 -- At Sharon, the Tigers (2-0) mauled the Buckeye State visitors, as Tom Safranic (112), Chris Whalen (130), Ryan Martell (135), Chrystan Bedell (145), Eric Squatrito (152), Logan Malie (171) and Mike Bochert (189) posted pins.

"We're working real hard,'' Sharon mentor Dave Ciafre said. "We have some new enthusiasm and great numbers and the kids are feeding off each other. We still have some bugs to work out, but I'm real pleased with where we are at this moment.''

» Reynolds 37, Jamestown 12 -- At Transfer, the battle between two of the area's long rivals ended early as the Raiders (3-0) rode techincal falls by Owen Brickel (145) and John Svirbly (160) to victory.

Reynolds also enjoyed a pin from Travis Battles (130), and major decisions from Jake Habel (112), Jesse Tumpak (171) and heavyweight Mike Hills.

In a matchup of state contenders at 135, Jamestown's Curtis Harnett scored a tight 3-2 decision over a slightly injured Justin Hollobaugh.

"It was a great match at 135," Reynolds coach Brian Hills said. "They both wrestled really well. Hollobaugh rolled his ankle the night before, and we didn't even know if we would wrestle him. But Harnett really wrestled him well."

Netting wins for the Muskies were Doug Cox (119), Alex Byler (125) and Dan Harnett (189).

» Greenville 40, Oil City 33 -- At Greenville, the host Trojans ran away with a close victory over the Oilers, riding late wins from Luke Liszka (275), Mike Stephens (171) and Brad Patton (160). Also for Greenville (2-0), Andrew Jones (119), Chris Peterson (125), Dan Burns (130) and Cody Noble (135) recorded wins.
