Farrell alive in playoffs

Farrell and Section 2-AA-A rival Shenango got new life Wednesday when the teams that eliminated them in the WPIAL quarterfinals won semifinal contests.

New Brighton, which knocked off the Steelers last week, defeated Shady Side Academy, 55-46, while Quaker Valley, which rallied from a 20-point deficit to bump off Shenango, upset top-ranked Aliquippa, 70-57.

Farrell will be either the WPIAL's No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the interdistrict playoffs, depending on whether New Brighton wins (No. 5) or loses (No. 6) in the WPIAL title game Saturday.

Coincidentally, should the Greenville Trojans win the District 10 title, they will play the WPIAL's No. 6 seed in the first round of interdistrict play.
