Three Steelers _ Brandon Smith, Sean Rain and Bill Robinson, received WPIAL Board of Control-issued 1-, 2- and 2-game suspensions following a brawl with Aliquippa players during December's Dresch-McCluskey Christmas tournament. Rain and Robinson no longer are with the club. Both Steelers' head coach Nick Cannone and his Aliquippa counterpart, Mike Zmijanac (1st year) were ``publicly censured ... for failure to control (their) players and keep them on the bench,'' according to WPIAL Executive Director Charles ``Ace'' Heberling. No Aliquippa players were suspended. Farrell is in the midst of a year-long probation. ... Aliquippa won that game 71-59 led by Cureton's 18 points. Gregory led the Steelers with 14 points. ... The victory snapped a four-game Farrell winning streak against the 'Quips. Included in that streak is a 71-30 drubbing by the Steelers in 1994-95. Prior to that, Aliquippa's last victory over Farrell came in '93-94 via a 53-44 decision in the WPIAL Semifinals. ... The 'Quips captured the Dresch-McCluskey title with a 52-50 win over Hickory. ... The Steelers are 8-5 in the PIAA playoffs since '91-92 and have made it to the second round each time. ... The Steelers have won seven of their last nine games.
