BOYS BASKETBALL DISTRICT 10 AA PLAYOFFS
George Junior moves to finals

Paced by a quartet of double-digit scorers, George Junior Republic advanced to the District 10 Class AA championship game via an 80-28 semifinal victory over Mercyhurst Prep Tuesday night at Oil City High School.

By virtue of the victory, GJR will meet Mercer in the D-10 title tilt on Friday.

Gerome Ruff bucketed a game-high 18 points for GJR (25-1), winner of 22 consecutive contests, while Jamal Benjamin and Jarrod Graham evenly divided an additional 28 points and Harold Kelly contributed 10 markers.

The Tigers led from the outset: 17-5 at the quarter; 45-14 at intermission, and 76-24 at the third-quarter turn.

Mark Wilcox led Mercyhurst Prep (12-14) with 13 points.
