Community's party in park is Labor Day weekend

Since 1980, residents of the Shenango Valley have gathered at Buhl Farm park in Hermitage during Labor Day weekend to celebrate Buhl Day with entertainment, food booths and fireworks.

The three-day celebration -- running from Sept. 5 through 7 -- will feature a variety of activities for all ages. The major action takes place on Labor Day.

One of Buhl Day's biggest events will be the parade on East State Street through Sharon and Hermitage Labor Day morning. Following the parade, this year's honorees -- Judy Achre and Susan McLaughlin -- will be recognized during a ceremoney at the Performing Arts Center in the park.

Buhl Day pays tribute to the late Frank H. Buhl and his wife, Julia Forker Buhl. During their lifetimes the Buhls made many philanthropic contributions to the Shenango Valley. Buhl Farm park is part of their legacy.

On Buhl Day, every section of the park will be filled with activities, food booths, and entertainers.
