GREENVILLE
Countywide honor choir concert is this afternoon
The third annual Mercer County Festival Honor Choir will perform at 1:30 p.m. today at Passavant Center, Thiel College, Greenville.
Each Mercer County high school choir director was invited to choose up to 16 singers to participate in the festival, which began Friday.
“While only a few students from each school are chosen for district and regional choir festivals, the county festival allows a greater number of students to experience new literature and a new conductor in a mass choir setting,” said Dr. Michael Bray, director of choirs and associate professor of music at Thiel.
Bray will conduct the 140 singers in a program of Handel, Bach and Rutter, and spirituals by Williams Dawson and Mark Hayes.
Kathryn A. Gray, adjunct professor, will accompany the choir.
The concert is free.
