Republican candidate Todd Bonar of Cortland in the fall for Ohio’s 67th state representative seat Latell earned the Democratic nomination for the seat now held by June Lucas with 15,617 votes, beating out John A. Saulitis, of McDonald, who earned 3,384 votes, and Phillip S. Arbie, of Mineral Ridge, who earned 2,884 votes.

Latell is leaving his 32nd state Senate District seat because of term limits set for state legislators.

The seat will be filled in November by either Democrat Timothy J. Ryan or Republican Randy Law, winners of Tuesday’s primary elections.

Unofficial totals for Trumbull and Geauga counties, which make up the 32nd District, gave Ryan the Democratic nomination, with 18,044 votes, followed by Darlene M. St. George, who garnered 14,655 votes, Marc Dann with 13,025 votes, and George Freeman Jr. who received 3,139 votes. Leif Paul Damstoft brought up the rear with 698 votes.

Law garnered a total of 19,508 votes running unopposed in the Republican primary.
