TRUMBULL COUNTY

Incumbents fare well in partisan balloting

Incumbents ruled in Trumbull County in Super Tuesday’s Ohio primary.

In the race for County Commissioner, incumbent Democrat Michael J. O’Brien easily won the party’s nomination over Warren city councilman Ronald E. White Sr. 29,123 to 10,616. O’Brien will run against Republican Thomas Montgomery.

Commissioner Joseph J. Angelo Jr., a Democrat, ran unopposed and will face Republican Michael K. Toda in November.

Both Republican commissioner candidates ran unopposed. Common Pleas Clerk of Courts Margaret R. O’Brien, will be on the ballot again in November, after beating back a Democratic primary challenge from Karen Infante Allen, 24,285 to 19,594.

Mrs. O’Brien will face Republican Don Manning in the fall election. Manning ran unopposed. Trumbull County Sheriff Thomas L. Altiere, received 25,132 votes and challenger Steve Lamantia, 18,718 votes, in a close Democratic race.

With no Republicans in the race, Altiere was essentially reelected Tuesday.
