A new strip plaza is under construction in Hempfield Township next to the Wal-Mart store.
Construction at Williamson and Hadley roads began this week and plans call for the plaza to be finished by June with tenants to begin opening their stores by August.
Greenville Outparcels LLC is the developer for the plaza which will cost more than $3 million, said Jim Aiello, president of JRA Development Group of Pittsburgh. Greenville Outparcels is a real estate partnership owned by several investors. JRA Development, which constructed the Wal-Mart store, is also overseeing construction of the plaza.
The plaza will be about 25,000 square feet and will have nine stores, Aiello said.
Aiello said tenants for the plaza include:
Hollywood Video, a national video chain.
Dollar Tree, a national chain where items in the store cost about $1.
Fashion Bug, a national women’s clothing chain. Aiello said Fashion Bug is leaving nearby Greenville Plaza next door to locate in the new plaza.
JRA has a tentative deal with Radio Shack which also would move its store out of Greenville Plaza to the new plaza.
A deal is pending with Bruster’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream, a regional ice cream store.
A deal also is close in hand with King’s Jewelry, a regional jewelry store.
Negotiations are also under way with an unidentified Chinese restaurant, Aiello said. He also added he would like to have more development in the area.
The announcement that Wal-Mart would open a Supercenter store in Hempfield heightened interest in real estate in the area. Wal-Mart opened the store last year.
