SHARPSVILLE
Schools locked afterincident
All four schools in the Sharpsville Area School District remained locked this morning after a schoolwide lock-down was issued Monday.
Superintendent Dr. Derry Stufft said this morning schools were locked after a noncustodial parent tried to pick up a child at one of the schools. He said he could not discuss details of the situation, nor would he comment on why all the buildings were locked and remained that way for a second day.
School board members also would not comment. After learning that The Herald had called them, Stufft asked The Herald not to contact school board members for information.
Sharpsville Police Chief Bruce Rosa said the parent was “pretty aggressive” in attempts to find the child, but that he doesn’t expect a problem. He said school officials issued the lock-down because they didn’t want to take any chances.
