Art Show winners unveiled
The following local residents were named winners of the Senior Art Show 2000 held March 27-31 in Mercer County Courthouse. They are:
Best of Show — Dr. Daniel J. McDonald Jr., age 76, Greenville, “On Grandpa’s Farm,” oil.
Judge’s Choice — Anna Marie Schaffer, 70, Grove City, “Unfinished Puzzle,” egg tempera.
Acrylic — Ms. Schaffer, “Spring,” first place; Mary Jane Marks, 67, Mercer, “Angel’s Lullaby;” and Lovela Gault, 67, “Winter Solitude,” third; and Art Kuhn, 75, “Wolves After Deer,” honorable mention, both Greenville.
Oil — McDonald, “On Grandpa’s Farm,” first; Joyce E. Schmidt, 68, Mercer, “The Invitation;” Mae Shaffer, 72, New Wilmington, “The Meeting Place,” third; and Ms. Gault, “Serenity,” honorable mention.
Watercolor — Albert Zippay, 78, Hermitage, “Grandpa’s Barn,” first; Martha “Dingel” Augustine, 70, “Silent Night,” second; and John English, 74, “Midnight Watchman,” honorable mention, both Mercer; and Ms. Gault, “Morning Contemplating,” third.
Pastel — Charlotte V. Filer, 86, “By the River,” first; and Shirley Mansfield Yereb, 67, “House Across the Street,” second, both Mercer; McDonald, “Ashley’s Etude,” third; and Charles M. Fischer, 67, Greenville, “Rough Sailing,” honorable mention.
Photography — Virginia Turner, 66, Grove City, “Gotcha,” first; Ms. Schaffer, “Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida,” second; Genovia Williams, 67, Farrell, “Autumn’s Delight,” third; and Ms. Marks, “Christmas at NaNa’s,” honorable mention.
Mixed media — Annette Selenchik, 62, Hermitage, “The Warmth of Family,” first; McDonald, “Plum Season,” second; Ms. Schaffer, “Peregrine Falcon,” third; and Fischer, “My Home,” honorable mention.
