Accountants hired to find discrepancies
Greenville council Tuesday approved an independent auditor to straighten out balance discrepancies between tax collector Leanna K. Mayberry’s records and those of the borough, Greenville Area School District and Mercer County.
No funds are believed to be lost, said Peter D. Nicoloff Jr., borough manager. He said the discrepancies are not large amounts.
Mayberry’s computer crashed several times, likely causing the problems, Nicoloff said.
Council hired the Sharon accounting firm of Black, Bashor and Porsch to do the audit. The borough, school district and the county will share the costs.
