Police drop charges against Pacsi

Charges of reckless driving and disorderly conduct have been dropped against former Farrell Mayor Eugene C. Pacsi.

Pacsi’s preliminary hearing on the charges was to be held Tuesday, but Sharon police dropped the charges because of a lack of witnesses, Police Chief Raymond C. Greene said.

Pacsi, 53, of 333 E. Judy Lynn Drive, Farrell, was charged Feb. 28 after a stray basketball hit his car outside St. Joseph’s Church, 760 E. State St., where a group of 13 and 14-year-olds were playing.

According to police at the time, Pacsi took the teens’ ball and refused to give it back and they in turn began calling him names. Police said Pacsi’s car brushed against the foot of one of the teens as he drove away.

Pacsi told police his car did not hit any of the teens.

Greene said further investigation found the teens’ stories varied and their main witness was not able to appear at the hearing.

Pacsi lost a race for county commissioner last year.
