Summer concert series at 2 sites in Allegheny County
The good folks in Allegheny County who collect tax money are again putting a little of it toward a summer concert series at Hartwood Acres, Allison Park, Pa., and South Park in Bethel Park.
All shows are free.
The Hartwood roster:
June — Eric Burdon and the New Animals, 7:30 p.m. Sunday; Dr. John, 7:30 p.m. June 11; Maceo Parker and Nathan Davis and Tomorrow, 7:30 p.m. June 17; Jeff Healey Band, 7:30 p.m. June 18; Jimmy Cliff Band, 7:30 p.m. June 23.
July — Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, 8:15 p.m. July 2; Miriam Makeba, 7:30 p.m. July 9; Shawn Colvin, 7:30 p.m. July 23.
August — Ahn Trio, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6; Billy Price and Donnie Iris, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13; Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20; Kathy Mattea, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26.
Slated at South Park:
June — Pittsburgh Opera, 7:30 p.m. Friday; Gathering Field and Dave Pahanish, 8 p.m. June 9; Dave Douglas Sextet and Walt Harper and All That Jazz, 8 p.m. June 16; John Hammond, 8 p.m. June 23.
July — Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, 8 p.m. July 1; River City Brass Band, 8 p.m. July 7; Lil Brian Terry and the Zydeco Traveler Band, 8 p.m. July 14; Mendelssohn Choir, 8 p.m. July 21; Drifters, 8 p.m. July 28.
August — Freedom Band, 8 p.m. Aug. 4; Rev. Billy C. Wirtz and Mark Eddy, 8 p.m. Aug. 11; Duquesne University Tamburitzans, 8 p.m. Aug. 25.
